Autism Assessments
The Vermont Wellness Collaborative is proud to offer screenings, assessment, and, if appropriate, diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in individuals of all ages.
There is a dramatic increase in recognition of ASD nationally and Vermont is not insulated from this trend. However, the number of providers offering these important assessments has not kept up.
As a nonprofit mental health organization, Vermont Wellness Collaborative decided to work with our community partners to help fill this need.
Over the course of multiple visits, we assess several domains of functioning (including Theory of Mind, Cognitive, Adaptive Skills, Communication, Social Skills, Emotional-Behavioral Health). We then formulate a diagnostic opinion and provider it to the client or the family.
We also work closely with a family’s current providers including therapists, primary care physicians, other healthcare providers, educators, and anyone else with knowledge of the person's functioning.
Does my insurance cover these assessments?
Possibly. However, in order to streamline the process, we ask for payment from clients. We will provide you with the documentation you need to submit for reimbursement from your insurance provider. However, we cannot guarantee that they will reimburse you.
How long does it take?
We are typically able to schedule the first assessment sessions within a few weeks. The number of sessions/hours it will take to complete the assessment varies based on the complexity of the situation. It typically takes a total of 4-8 hours of assessment to fully evaluate someone for ASD.
How much does it cost?
Contact us for rates. If you're worried about how to pay for the assessment, ask about our sliding scale.
